Abstract

Spontaneous isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection is a rare cause of acute mesenteric ischemia. The therapeutic options are observation, medical treatment, surgery, or endovascular stentting. We present a case report of acute mesenteric ischemia due to spontaneous dissection of the superior mesenteric artery, which was successfully treated by percutaneous stent placement with a review of literature.
